AKB48 Birthdays and Comparative Ages

I’m often surprised by how young the girls are. Sure, everyone gets surprised that Jurina Matsui is the youngest, entering SKE48 at 2008 at the age of 11, (considering her looks are already well developed), but people may not realize that just before the Budokan shuffle, Reina Fujie was actually the 4th youngest AKB member, younger than Erena Ono and Miho Miyazaki, and only 2 months older than Mayu Watanabe. Post-Budokan shuffle, Manami Oku is still the youngest AKB member, even when the young, promoted Kenkyuuseis are added to the list, while Mariko Shinoda is oldest. When SKE is combined with AKB, Shinoda is oldest overall, while the 1997-born Jurina Matsui is overall the youngest member.

There are four lists below, the first three are arranged by age, from oldest to youngest; the first contains only AKB48 members (post-Budokan shuffle), the second contains only SKE48 members, while the third combines AKB48 and SKE48. Not included in the first three lists are SDN48 members (since SDN has a minimum age requirement of 20, they would skew the list). I did not take into consideration any nonpromoted Kenkyuuseis nor SDN Unders.

The fourth list contains AKB, SKE and SDN members, arranged by birthdays, from January to December. I also decided to add graduates to this list, and when they graduated, when I can find them. If I missed something, let me know.

Included with their birthdates are their birthplaces whenever I can find them. Last updated: January 6, 2010.

Jurina Matsui debuts in an AKB PV, Oogoe Diamond, at age 11

Jurina Matsui's second PV, 10nen Zakura, at age 11.

In this screen cap from 10nen Zakura, Jurina is actually the youngest at 11, shown here with Erena Ono (at middle), 15, and Mayu Watanabe, 14.

In this interview (circa middle of 2009), Jurina is still youngest (at 12) out of these four of the five youngest members of SKE (and the AKB main roster), shown here with Sayuki Mori (leftmost), age 12, Anna Ishida, age 13, and Manatsu Mukaida (rightmost), age 13.

Oldest member of AKB (post-Budokan shuffle), Mariko Shinoda, at age 23, with youngest overall member Jurina Matsui, at age 12, and youngest member of AKB, Manami Oku, at age 13 (photo from Shinoda's blog).

Reina Fujie, at age 15

Right before and just after the Budokan shuffle, youngest member of AKB, Manami Oku, at age 13

Second youngest member of SKE and the AKB main roster, Sayuki Mori at age 13.

Right after the Budokan shuffle, oldest member of AKB, ranked third in the Iiwake Maybe Senbatsu elections, Mariko Shinoda at age 23

PreBudokan shuffle, oldest member of AKB was Megumi Ohori, shown here at age 25. But really, if you look this good, who cares.
